Humble Lion’s struggles continue with heartbreaking loss to Molynes United

Humble Lion’s battle to escape the relegation zone took another blow on Monday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Molynes United in the final game of Match Day 20 in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium. The loss leaves Humble Lion rooted to the bottom of the table, with just 14 points and only one win in their last 13 matches.

Molynes United took the lead in the 34th minute, courtesy of an own goal by Humble Lion’s Lincoln Thompson. Despite the setback, Humble Lion fought back and managed to level the scores in the 78th minute through James Thomas, giving them a glimmer of hope.

However, in the dying moments of the match, Molynes United snatched victory when Rushaun Livingston scored the winner just two minutes from full-time. The dramatic late goal sealed all three points for Molynes, who now sit in 9th place with 21 points, inching closer to safety.

For Humble Lion, the defeat adds to their ongoing struggles. The team, who recently parted ways with head coach Donovan Duckie, have yet to find the form that could lift them out of the relegation zone. With just 14 points from 20 games, they remain firmly at the bottom of the table, facing an uphill battle to secure top-flight football for next season.

Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the spectrum, red-hot Mount Pleasant continues to dominate. They extended their remarkable winning streak to a record 11 consecutive matches with a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens on Sunday, keeping them firmly at the top of the standings with 49 points. Montego Bay United and Arnett Gardens follow closely behind in 2nd and 3rd place, with 41 and 39 points respectively.
