Surrey Risers go top of the table in JCA Dream T10

Surrey Risers have taken over top spot on the table in the JCA Dream T10 Cricket competition, after beating United Stars by six runs in the match day 4 contest at Sabina Park on Tuesday.

The Risers, opting to bat, piled up a competitive 104 for 7 with opener Sadique Henry (25), Kedar Brown (24) and Jamie Hay (22 not out) the top batters against Damani Sewell (4 for 15) and Mickel Silva (3 for 28).

At their turn to bat United Stars were restricted to 98 for 7 despite Sashane Anderson hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes on his way to 42 off 25 balls. Gordon Bryan (3 for 17) was the pick of the Surrey bowlers.

With the result Surrey Risers moved to the top of the table on 6 points having compiled 3 wins and a loss from their 4 matches.

The other game on Tuesday, saw Cornwall Warriors, led by an unbroken sixth wicket partnership of 42 between Aldaine Thomas and Michael Frew, battling to a 20-run victory against Middlesex Titans.

Frew led the way with 34 runs off 15 balls while Thomas was not out on 33 off 12 deliveries, as the Warriors inserted to take first strike made 100 for 5 off their allotted 10 overs. Tyrone Daley (2 for 16) was the top Middlesex bowler.

In response opener Matthew Morgan hit a top-score of 22 for the Titans who fell short at 80 for 7.

Leading the bowling for Cornwall Warriors were Osburn Palmer who took 2 for 7 and Tavi Spencer who chipped in with 2 for 11.

Cornwall Warriors are now fourth on net run rate behind Surrey Kings and Surrey Royals who are also on 4 points, while Middlesex Titans are second from bottom on the six-team table with 2 points.

The competition continues on Wednesday with another 2 games between Surrey Royals vs Surrey Kings and United Stars against Cornwall Warriors at Sabina Park.
