Kishane Thompson to make 2025 indoor debut in Kazakhstan
Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson will make his indoor debut on January 25 at the Astana Indoor Meet in Kazakhstan.
The reigning national champion has been announced for the men’s 60m event where he will face the likes of Canadian Andre de Grasse who, according to World Athletics, placed sixth in the same event last year in Astana with a time of 6.66 seconds.
Thompson last competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics where he placed second in the men’s 100m final clocking 9.79 seconds to finish closely behind American sprinter Noah Lyles.
Meanwhile Olympic finalist Tia Clayton and twin sister Tina are expected to participate in the women’s 60e, along with compatriot Natasha Morrison and Bahamian sprinter Anthonique Strachan.
Also down to compete is Janieve Russell who will go up against Barbadian Sada Williams in the women’s 400 meters.
The Astana Indoor Meet is the first World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting of 2025. The athletes are preparing for the World Indoor Championship, set to take place in Nanjing, China between March 21-23.
