P-STEB will be placing greater focus on road safety for motorcyclists this year – ACP Gary McKenzie
The police’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (P-STEB) will be placing greater focus on road safety for motorcyclists this year.
According to data from the Road Safety Unit, motorcyclists accounted for the majority of road deaths in 2024 at 34%.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Head of P-STEB, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Gary McKenzie said road safety initiatives will focus mainly on reducing biker fatalities.
ACP McKenzie also noted that focus will be placed on pedestrians and private motor vehicle drivers – the two other road user categories with the second and third highest numbers of fatalities.
Pedestrians accounted for 19% while private motor vehicle drivers accounted for 17%.
