The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has reported that this morning’s fatal shooting incident in St. James has brought the total number of deaths from such incidents involving the security forces to 183.

Three men were killed in the incident, which occurred in Orange, St. James.

Assistant Commissioner of INDECOM, Hamish Campbell, noted that the number of people killed by the security forces this year is the highest in the past decade.

He stated that the number of fatalities has been rising annually since 2019 when over 80 people were killed by the security forces.

Assistant Commissioner Campbell once again called for the implementation of body-worn cameras, particularly during targeted operations.
