Reggae Girlz striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw was an eighth placed finisher in the voting for The Best FIFA Women’s Player award that was won by Spain and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati for a second consecutive year.

The final results were revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards where Vinicius Jr took home the male version of the trophy on a night of glitz and glamour at the home of football, the Aspire Academy in Qatar’s Education City.

In retaining the award Bonmati, who dominated all four voting categories and gathered more than twice as many fan voting points as both her podium finishers combined, amassed 52 votes to finish ahead of Zambia’s Barbra Banda (39 points) and Norway’s Caroline Graham Hansen who was third on 37 points.

Shaw tallied 19 points, the same as Spain’s Ona Batlle, after a superb season for Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League where she led the competition in scoring.

Vinicius Jr meanwhile was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player for the first time with the support of his fellow professionals and football fans around the globe allowing him to top the podium ahead of nearest challenger Rodri. The Brazil and Real Madrid star compiled 48 points to Rodri’s 43 with England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham in third on 37 points.

Carlo Ancelotti and Emma Hayes were given the Male and Female Coach of the Year awards, respectively while Brazil legend Marta won the inaugural Marta Award – given to the player with the best goal in women’s football – for her strike for Brazil against Jamaica.
