Suspect in Corporal’s murder arrested at Norman Manley International Airport
One of the suspects implicated in the murder of Corporal Christopher Smith at the weekend was arrested today at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
Police have not yet released his identity.
Corporal Smith, who was assigned to the Trench Town police station in the Kingston Western division, was shot during a robbery along Beechwood Avenue on Friday night.
Reports are that at about 10:54 PM, the Corporal drove his private motor car to a petrol station in the area to purchase fuel, unknowingly entering an active robbery scene.
While he waited to be served, one of the robbers attacked him and shot him several times.
Members of the public assisted Corporal Smith to the Kingston Public Hospital, however, he succumbed to his wounds on Saturday morning.
The JCF is encouraging members of the public to support the investigation into Corporal Smith’s death by sharing what they know with the police.
