Jamaica makes history with first export of locally produced medical-grade oxygen
Jamaica has made history with its inaugural export of locally produced medical-grade oxygen.
The landmark shipment, with 16 tonnes of liquid medical-grade oxygen, departed the island on November 9 and is destined for the Bahamas.
The shipment was made by Massy Gas Products Jamaica, under its IGL brand.
In a statement, Massy said the achievement positions Jamaica as an emerging healthcare leader in the region and marks a significant step in the country’s journey toward economic resilience and self-reliance.
Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator Aubyn Hill, welcomed the development, while noting that it reflects the country’s commitment to increasing exports and boosting the economy.
Senator Hill urged other businesses to follow Massy’s example and seek out opportunities for export to new markets.
