Cannabis-infused edibles see 7% increase in usage

There is a 7% increase in the use of edibles or cannabis infused food.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says the figure has moved from 6.6%  in 2016 to 13% in the 2023 National Drug Prevalence Survey.

The findings were released yesterday.

Dr. Tufton notes this was expected, as these foods are easily accessed.

Meantime, the study revealed that newer psychoactive substances are not heavily featured among the general population.

These include molly and ecstasy.

Dr. Tufton says use of these substances is among young adults.

He adds that more details will be provided arising from a synthetic drug rapid assessment done in four Caribbean countries.

The Health Minister adds that use of synthetic cannabis and e-cigarettes is also low.
