Reggae Girlz goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer ink new Spurs deal

Reggae Girls goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer has extended her contract with Barclays Women’s Super League club Tottenham Hotspur that sees her remaining with the club until the summer of 2026.

Spencer, who represented Jamaica at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, has played an integral role across five seasons after joining from West Ham United in July, 2019.

With over a decade of experience in England’s top flight, the experienced goalkeeper has been a consistent performer and produced a number of vital saves in key matches so far under Robert Vilahamn.

The 33-year-old featured on 21 occasions last term in all competitions – her most appearances in a single season since signing for the Club – including her penalty shootout heroics in the quarter-final of the FA Cup to secure a win over Manchester City, helping us progress to the FA Cup final.

On the international stage, Spencer made her international debut for Jamaica in June, 2021 in a 1-0 victory over Nigeria and featured at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, helping them to reach the knockout stages for the first time.

Spencer returns to action on Friday when seventh placed Tottenham – who also include Reggae Girls midfielder Drew Spence – play away to league leaders Manchester City who are spearheaded by Reggae Girlz striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, the reigning FWA and PFA Women’s Super League Player Of the Year.
