Search continues for convict who escaped this morning while awaiting sentencing for gun offence at the Supreme Court
The search continues for convict Anthony Williams, who escaped police custody this morning while awaiting sentencing for a gun offense.
Williams was convicted earlier this year for illegal possession of a firearm and returned to the Supreme Court in Downtown Kingston today for sentencing.
During the court proceedings, it is reported that Williams jumped from a courtroom upstairs onto Tower Street and made his escape.
Police have launched a manhunt for Williams, but he has yet to be found.
Although absent from the court proceedings, Williams was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Williams, who is from Allman Town in Kingston, was already serving a sentence for a previous gun offense.
His attorney Kymberli Whittaker has appealed for him to turn himself in to the police.
