The police have ramped up their presence islandwide, as National Heroes Weekend celebrations get underway.
During the holiday weekend, there tends to be an increase in entertainment events and traffic congestion.
Speaking with Irie FM News, Head of the Constabulary Communications Setwork, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said lawmen have been deployed to party venues such as Ocho Rios in St. Ann, to maintain law and order.
SSP Lindsay is advising persons not to drink and drive.
Meantime, with criminals targeting entertainment events she is urging party-goers to be vigilant.
