TODSS wants Dr. Clarke to state position on fare increase before demitting office
With just two weeks to go before he leaves the Finance Ministry, transport operators are reiterating their call for Dr. Nigel Clarke to state the government’s position on the fare increase due to the sector.
The 16 per cent increase should have been granted on April 1, but the minister had asked the sector to postpone its implementation.
Dr. Clarke had cited the need to maintain inflation in single digits to keep the economy on course.
In a statement, the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, (TODSS) notes that there has been no word from the minister regarding the increase.
TODSS President Egeton Newman says the sector needs to hear from the minister on the subject before he leaves office on October 31.
He adds that if the minister does not respond, transport operators will have no choice but to take further action.
