Reggae Boyz to face USA in Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have been drawn against defending champions United States in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals.

The blockbuster encounter was confirmed by regional governing body Concacaf who on Wednesday revealed the Nations League Quarterfinal and Play-In matchups. Both teams met in the semifinals of the last edition where Jamaica conceded twice in injury time to go down 3-1 after taking an early lead.

The home-and-away series will take place during the FIFA Match Window of November 2024 and determine the teams advancing to the Concacaf Nations League Finals at Hollywood Park and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and the 2025 Gold Cup Prelims, respectively. The Quarterfinal winners will also qualify for next summer’s Gold Cup.

The first game is scheduled for November 14 at the National Stadium in Kingston with the teams set to meet for a second time four days later on November 18 at City Park Stadium in St. Louis.

Jamaica secured their place in the quarter-finals after topping Group B in League A with 8 points after their goalless draw with Honduras – who advanced as the runner up – on Monday.

Also advancing after following completion of Group Stage play for League A were Costa Rica and Suriname from Group A.

The four teams – Jamaica, Honduras Costa Rica and Suriname – now join the four top-ranked pre-seeded League A teams: Canada, Mexico, Panama, and the United States (listed in alphabetical order).

The four Quarterfinal matchups are as follows:

QF1: Panama vs Costa Rica (fourth-ranked seeded team vs best first place)
QF2: United States vs Jamaica (third-ranked seeded team vs next first place)
QF3: Canada vs Suriname (second-ranked seeded team vs best second place)
QF4: Mexico vs Honduras (best-ranked seeded team vs next second place)

Honduras will host Mexico also on November 14, while Panama play away to Costa Rica and Suriname host Canada.

The return legs will all be contested on November 18 with the winners on aggregate advancing to the semi-finals in March 2025.

The Quarterfinal winners will also qualify for next summer’s Gold Cup.

Furthermore, the third and fourth-place finishers have qualified for the 2025 Gold Cup Prelims, and the fifth and sixth places have progressed to the Concacaf Nations League Play-In.

The Concacaf Nations League Play-In will also take place during the FIFA Match Window of November and consists of a single direct elimination round and eight teams.
