Residents block Sandy Bay main road in Hanover to protest fatal shooting at the weekend
Some residents of Hanover blocked the Sandy Bay main road in the parish this morning as they demanded justice for the fatal shooting of Adedra Vidal.
20-year-old Vidal otherwise called Kiron of Montpelier, Hanover was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with lawmen in his community on Saturday, October 12.
Reports from the police are that at about 12: 40 p-m, they were fired upon by Vidal, and returned the fire. When the shooting subsided, Vidal was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police say a Glock pistol with five 9-mm cartridges was seized during the incident.
The fatal shooting is being investigated by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau, IPROB and the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM.
Meanwhile, family and friends of the deceased blocked access to the Sandy Bay main road this morning, in protest of the fatal shooting.
According to the protestors, Vidal was not a criminal and was killed in his home, in cold blood.
Police responded to quell the protest and restored access to the affected roadway.
