Aston Villa, West Ham & Newcastle reportedly scouting Jamaican defender Richard King

Reggae Boyz defender Richard King could soon be on the move to England with news emerging he is being monitored by four English Premier League teams.

King currently plays for Cavalier in the Jamaica Premier League where he is reportedly being closely watched by Aston Villa who are interested in linking him up with his Jamaica team-mate Leon Bailey.

The group of club interested in King include Newcastle United who are said to view the right-footed defender as a long-term successor for an ageing Fabian Schar. Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United who are believed to be the ones leading the race for his signature.

According to British football website HITC, the 6ft 2in centre-back is likely to be viewed as an investment for the future and a solid rotation option for a West Ham side that includes his Jamaican international teammate Michail Antonio and who are looking to return to European competition and fight on multiple fronts.

King has been capped 19-times by the Jamaican national team after making his Reggae Boyz debut in 2022.

The 22 year old is a standout for Cavalier where he has featured in over 70 matches while winning two national titles.

The defender has prior experience in Europe having also played for Icelandic side IBV Vestmannaeyjar.
