An investigation has been launched into the shooting death of a three year old boy in St Catherine on Sunday.

He has been identified as Rojaghn Hinds of Oak Place, Ebony Vale, Spanish Town.

Police reports are that about 1:30 p.m., A man who had just arrived home from church with family, heard a truck and rushed to dispose of garbage.

Its reported that he placed his Smith and Wesson 9MM pistol under the couch and went outside.

Further reports are that he heard a loud explosion and went inside to make checks.

He found Rojaghn lying in the arms of a relative with blood coming from his head.

The child was assisted to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
