Energy Minister Daryl Vaz says JPS’ intention to resume disconnection of electricity after August 15, is unrealistic
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz says the Jamaica Public Service’s (JPS) intention to resume disconnection of electricity after August 15, is unrealistic.
JPS says it will not disconnect power supply for non-payment of bills up to August 15, as part of its Hurricane Beryl relief measures.
But the minister says with the hurricane having impacted the island on July 3, having an August 15 deadline is too soon.
He did not offer an alternative date that the JPS could resume disconnection.
The minister will be meeting with representatives from the light and power company tomorrow, to discuss several issues.
