Etana sends love to Kenyans
Reggae singer Etana is using her platform to send love to Kenyans amid protests in the East African country.
In a video message shared on social media, Etana addressed Kenyans sending love, strength and courage to the people in what she refers to as serious times. The Nothing but Love singer, also used the opportunity to call on the leaders of Kenya, stressing the importance of listening to the people and uniting to make the country greater.
On Tuesday June 25, demonstrators stormed Kenya’s parliament to protest a controversial tax bill. Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and live rounds leading to several persons being killed and hundreds injured.
The controversial finance bill was subsequently withdrawn on June 26, by Kenyan President William Ruto.
However, today June 27, protesters across the country embarked on planned anti-government demonstrations. The protests are now about widespread dissatisfaction with the government, with protesters now saying they want the president to resign.
Meanwhile, Etana has announced that her 9th Studio album will go live in a few weeks on July 26. Titled Nectar of the Gods, the fourteen-track album produced by her Freemind Music label, will feature collaborations with artistes such as Big Youth, Bugle, Randy Valentine, Shatta Wale and Mr. Cheeks.
