CXC reverses decision to discontinue syllabuses for four subjects at CAPE and CSEC levels
The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has reversed its decision, to discontinue syllabuses for four subjects at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) levels.
The subjects are CAPE Green Engineering, CAPE Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, CSEC Agricultural Science (double award), and CSEC Industrial Technology – the Mechanical Engineering option.
The decision to keep the subjects on CXC’s roster follows concerns raised by several stakeholders.
The announcement was made by the council’s Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, Dr. Wayne Wesley, following a meeting with Ministers of Education from the region Tuesday morning.
Dr. Wesley noted further that governments will work with the council to increase demand for new-generation programmes.
Dr. Wesley added that CXC is committed to ensuring its communications protocols afford the Ministers of Education a greater line of sight of high-level policy recommendations for decision-making.
