8 killed in road crashes over Easter Holiday; toll now at 107

“A trail of death” that’s how Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones described the series of road crashes over the Easter Holiday.

Eight (8) people were killed and several others injured in separate motor vehicle crashes across the island, since the weekend.

Six were killed in crashes which occurred Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

As a result, the death toll increased to 107.

Among those killed during the holiday period were a 6 year old Portland boy and his father, a 49 year old housekeeper from Kingston and a 21-year-old Manchester man.

Some of the crashes occurred in St. Ann, Manchester, Kingston and Portland.

Dr. Jones described the incidents as tragic.

He said if not careful, Jamaica could again miss the below 300 road deaths target, this year.
