Phase one of Urban Renewal and Development Programme underway islandwide
Phase one of the Urban Renewal and Development Programme, is underway across the island.
Prime Minister, Andrew Holness said the initiative serves a dual purpose of improving, the urban environment, as well as, the living conditions of citizens.
He noted that last year, the government allocated between 2 to 4 million dollars, to each constituency, for projects to be undertaken, and the expectation is that members of parliament are executing their projects.
The prime minister was speaking with reporters recently, while visiting the project site at Morgans Place, in Olympic Way, in his West Central St. Andrew Constituency.
Mr Holness said the project is concentrated on an informal settlement in the community.
He said the government will seek to assist in regularizing the area, for the over 50 citizens who reside there.
