Finance minister Dr. Nigel Clarke has rubbished claims from the Opposition that the jobs being created by the Andrew Holness led government are low wage jobs.

This, as the country’s unemployment rate has fallen to 4 point 2 percent.

Closing the budget debate yesterday, Dr. Clarke said the claim that most of the jobs created are below international labour organization’s standard of decent work, is false.

He said a 2023 Caribbean policy research report on employment trends in the region, indicates otherwise.

Dr. Clarke said there has been an increase in the employment of educated workers.
