Security guard shot and killed, two others wounded in Ocho Rios robbery
A security guard was shot and killed and two others including a child shot and wounded during a robbery at a Cambio in Ocho Rios St Ann yesterday.
The incident occurred at about 5:40 PM, at 20 main street.
Reports are that the security guard was on duty at the Cambio which was being closed for the day.
The police say a white Toyota Probox was driven to the location.
Two men, both armed with guns, came from the vehicle and opened gunfire at the security guard who fell to the ground.
The men then opened gunfire at the cambio manager, hitting him multiple times all over his body, and robbed him of two bags containing an undetermined sum of money.
The gunmen also robbed the security guard of a Taurus .38 revolver.
The men escaped in the motor vehicle.
After the shooting subsided, a nine year old student who was in the vicinity, was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper right arm.
Both wounded persons were rushed to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital where they were admitted in serious but stable condition.
The security guard was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police are appealing to anyone with information about this crime to contact the Ocho Rios police station or any of the force’s confidential lines.
