PNP’s Desmond Chambers will remain Councillor for Above Rocks Division in St. Catherine
The People’s National Party’s Desmond Chambers will remain the Councillor for the Above Rocks Division in St. Catherine.
This, as his win was confirmed in a magisterial recount.
Following last Monday’s election, Chambers won the division with 845 votes, while the Jamaica Labour Party’s Neil Powell received 828 votes.
With a difference of 17 votes, Powell requested the recount, which was carried out yesterday.
This recount resulted in Chambers’ votes increasing to 859 and Powell’s to 836.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Opposition Senator Donna Scott Mottley, who was a part of Chambers’ legal team, said during the recount she remained confident that the party would retain the Above Rocks Division.
