One dead, child among 7 others injured after truck veers into gully in Westmoreland
One man is dead and 7 others including a child are being treated for injuries, at hospital, after a market truck ran off the road into a gully in Darliston, Westmoreland, on Friday morning.
The police have not released the identity of the deceased, but it’s understood that he is a 65 year-old vendor.
Reports are that about 5:40 a.m., the truck was transporting vendors along the Holly Hill main road to the Savanna La Mar market, when it ran off the road.
Councillor for the Darliston Division, Jerome Bacchas says the eight people who were aboard the truck are from the Big Woods and Holly Hill communities.
