JCSA anticipates settling disagreements with Gov’t on matters relating to restructuring of compensation system
The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) is anticipating the settling of disagreements with the Finance Ministry on outstanding matters relating to the restructuring of the compensation system.
A meeting between the parties is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9.
JCSA President, Techa Clarke-Griffiths told IRIE FM news that in meetings between the Ministry and the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions last year, eight areas of grievances were brought to the fore.
Among them are issues relating to retroactive mileage payments with effect from April 1, 2022, to November 2022, and payments of increments.
Mrs. Clarke-Griffiths explained, however, that in the meetings, there was general agreement, in principle, on seven of the eight matters of concern.
She said after lengthy discussions, the Ministry agreed to pay increments for 3 years.
These are for pay periods 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
However, Mrs. Clarke-Griffiths noted that there is disagreement with the Ministry over the payment schedule.
She hopes the meeting on January 9, will lead to a resolution.
