The Tropical Storm Watch for Jamaica has been discontinued but the island remains under Flash Flood Alerts until 5 AM tomorrow.

The Met Office discontinued the tropical storm watch earlier today because the chance of tropical cyclone development has been significantly reduced.

Meanwhile, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Westmoreland, St Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St Catherine, Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland, and St Mary.

A Flash Flood Watch also remains in effect for other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

The Met Service said the poorly organized weather system is expected to move across Jamaica this afternoon, then over Cuba, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands tomorrow.

The poorly organized severe weather system continues to be a significant rainfall producer and flooding is likely to continue, resulting in landslides in some areas, mainly over southern and eastern parishes, through this evening.

All small craft operators, including fishers from the cays and banks are being advised to remain in safe harbour until wind and sea conditions have returned to normal.
