Noah Lyles among 5 short-listed for World Athletics Male Athlete of the year award
American sprinter Noah Lyles is among the finalists short-listed by track and field’s governing body…..World Athletics….to win the 2023 Male World Athlete of the year award.
Lyles earned his place among the final group of 5 based on his performance at the World Athletics championship in Budapest, Hungary where he completed the one and 200 metres double.
This after going unbeaten in six 200 metre finals and having also posted the world leading time of 19.47 seconds over the distance.
The group of finalists also includes world record holder and and diamond league pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis, Sweden and India’s Neeraj Chopra- the Javelin World and Asian Games champion.
it’s further completed by American Ryan Crouser the world shot put champion and record holder and kelvin Kiptum of Kenya the London and Chicago marathon winner and marathon world record breaker.
a three-way voting process was used to determined the finalists.
Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson..the back-to-back world and Diamond League 200 metre champion and 100 metre silver medalist was among a group of 5 women short-listed yesterday to win the 2023 female World Athlete of the year award.
The both male and female athlete of the year will be announced on December 11.
