Senator Bunting concerned that some state agencies have not provided annual reports since 2015
Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate, Peter Bunting has expressed deep concern that some state agencies, have not provided any critical annual reports or audited statements to cabinet from as far back as 2015.
Speaking during Friday’s meeting of the Senate at Gordon House, Mr Bunting said it is time that this long-standing issue be addressed.
He pointed to state agencies, such as the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) and the National Works Agency (NWA) which have not made any recent reports on their operational expenditures, despite handling billions of dollars yearly.
Senator Bunting also made reference to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency management (ODPEM’s) delayed response, to Monday’s earthquake.
Senator Bunting called for more accountability and better management of state agencies.
