MP Warmington apologizes for controversial comments made at previous meeting of Integrity Commission Oversight Committee
In the wake of public criticism about certain utterances made during a previous committee meeting, government member Everald Warmington has offered an apology to committee chair Edmund Bartlett.
In July, during of a meeting of the Integrity Commission Oversight Committee, a heated exchange between Warmington and Bartlett resulted in Warmington walking out, upset over being muzzled after attempting to ask questions about the Integrity Commission.
Committee chair Bartlett had cautioned Mr. Warmington against impugning another person’s character.
At the start of today’s sitting of the committee, Mr. Warmington pointed out that the public misinterpreted his comments.
He stressed that he made no reference to corruption and apologized to Mr. Bartlett for the inconvenience caused.
In response, chairman Bartlett acknowledged Mr. Warmington’s explanation, and expressed hope that there will be no repeat of the situation.
