Police Federation Chairman’s Attorney, preparing documents to mount challenge against notice of interdiction
The attorney representing Police Federation Chairman, Corporal Rohan James is preparing documents to mount a challenge against a notice of interdiction that was served on Corporal James today (July 27).
Bert Samuels said the interdiction is a breach of Corporal James’ right to free speech and freedom of expression.
The interdiction follows comments Corporal James made while at the funeral service of a fallen officer, chastising the High Command about nonpayment of overtime monies.
The lawyer said the matter will be heard in a Court of Inquiry.
Mr Samuels noted that because of the interdiction, Corporal James cannot serve as Federation Chairman.
He explained that in his comments at the funeral, Corporal James was merely exercising his right to represent the rank-and-file officers.
