Education Minister commits to installing cameras at primary schools following abduction and murder of 8-year-old

Education Minister Fayval Williams has committed to installing cameras at primary schools to improve the safety and security of children.

This follows the murder of 8-year-old Danielle Rowe, who was abducted from the Braeton Primary School last week, and later found with her throat slashed on Thursday (June 8).

Despite attempts to save her life, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday.

Speaking at a special devotion at the school this morning (June 12), Mrs Williams explained that CCTV cameras are usually reserved for high schools, especially those in vulnerable areas.

She noted, however, that with Danielle’s death, her Ministry will begin deploying cameras at primary schools to help prevent a similar occurrence.

Mrs Williams said the Ministry would begin with Danielle’s school.
