Gov’t says it’s committed to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring proper salaries
Amid the ongoing public backlash over the massive salary increase granted to the Political Directorate, the Government says it is committed to protecting workers’ rights, including ensuring that they have proper salaries.
The statement was made by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange.
Speaking at the 2023 National Workers’ Week and Labour Day Thanksgiving Service in Kingston yesterday (May 21), she said the Government also remains committed to improving working conditions and worker benefits.
According to Ms Grange, significant progress has been made through the workforce, in both the public and private sectors to secure peace, social equity, economic independence, prosperity and personal fulfilment for all Jamaicans.
