Opposition wants salary increase for Political Directorate to be revised and delayed
Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson has sought to explain the differentiation in responses from the People’s National Party (PNP) to the increased salary for the Political Directorate.
This, in the wake of criticism that the Opposition was flip-flopping on the matter, after Mr. Robinson told the House on Tuesday (May 16) that there was no objection, only to have PNP’s General Secretary Dr Dayton Campbell issue a statement the following day, disagreeing with the increase.
Speaking at a press briefing today (May 19), Mr Robinson pointed out that the Opposition was unaware of the details of how the increase was calculated.
He stressed that he will continue to call for the issues regarding payments to public sector workers, to be resolved.
Robinson wants Government to revise the salary increase calculation method and also delay the implementation of the increase.
