Desmond Mckenzie street sign removed due to vandalism
Less than a week after the Guava Walk Road, in the North West Manchester community of Somerset was renamed Desmond Mckenzie Close, in honour of the local government minister, the street sign has been removed due to vandalism.
Councillor for the Johns Hall Division, Faith Sampson told Irie Fm News that the sign is being repaired.
There have been mixed reactions to the renaming of the roadway, with some persons questioning why Mr Mckenzie was given the honour.
Last Friday Mr Mckenzie expressed his appreciation of the people’s acknowledgement of his work by renaming the road.
He also committed to the up keep of the roadway.
