Seven members of the judiciary sworn into higher office
Seven members of the judiciary were sworn into higher office by Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen during a ceremony at King’s House in Kingston this morning (January 6).
Ann-Marie Lawrence and Althea Jarrett will serve as Puisne Judges, Stephany Orr, Opal Smith and Dale Staple will serve as Acting Puisne Judges, while Sherna Reid and Carla Thomas will serve as Masters-in-Chambers.
They will take up their new posts effective January 9.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor General reminded the new appointees of their responsibility to act with integrity.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Bryan Sykes explained that the ceremony represents an opportunity for reflection and analysis.
