Police to increase breathalyzer testing for motorists this festive season
The traffic police will be seeking to increase the number of breathalyzer tests conducted on motorists.
Head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gary Mckenzie says so far this year, over 12,000 tests have been done.
He notes that the Desnoes and Geddes (D&G) foundation has boosted the testing capacity of traffic cops, with the donation of 50 breathalyzer machines.
The machines were handed over yesterday (November 9), during a town hall on responsible alcohol consumption and road safety, hosted by Red Stripe.
Communications Manager at Red Stripe, Tyheissa Williams said the machines are valued at over $3 million.
