Chief Currie refutes claims he has been ousted from post

Richard Currie has refuted claims that he has been ousted from his role as leader of the Accompong Town maroons.

This, as there have been reports that the maroon chief who was elected last February, was ousted from his position by the maroon council of elders.

It’s alleged that a unanimous, vote by the Accompong Town maroon council of elders on Saturday, convicted Chief Currie on more than 27 impeachment charges.

It’s further alleged that Chief Currie was removed from the post after a vote of no confidence.

However, in a social media post on Sunday morning, Chief Currie dismissed the claims, and described them as fake news.

According to Currie, in the constitution of the Accompong maroons, if an individual is found guilty of an impeachment, certain protocols must be followed, which were not done.

He said the circulation of the claims is a bid to overthrow him.
