MOCA called in after hackers claimed to have access to National Health Fund data

The National Health Fund (NHF) has confirmed receipt of a threat from a hacker group claiming to have access to some of its data.

Reports of the data breach surfaced on social media this morning, with allegations that 2.9 terabytes of data had been hacked at the Fund.

The hacker group, Pear, listed the NHF on its leak site, claiming that the breach includes financial records, human resource files, medical records and other personal data.

During a post-Cabinet press briefing this morning, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said the NHF has reported the incident to the Office of Information Commissioner and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).

He sought to assure the public that steps have been taken to improve data security.
