Jamaica’s Consul General to Miami, Oliver Mair is calling on the public to join hands in raising some US$40,000 to transport burn victim Adrianna Laing, to the United States to access medical care.

Laing was injured in a fire which claimed the lives of her three younger brothers, nine-year-old Adrianno Laing and seven-year-old twins Jorden and Jayden Laing, in Springfield, Westmoreland on Sunday (September 4) evening.

The Sanmerna Foundation and several other corporate entities have stepped in to help the young girl who remains in critical condition, at the University Hospital of the West indies.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (September 7), Mr. Mair noted that Dolla Financial, Panton Equity Partners and Grocery List Jamaica, have indicated that they will be making contributions, but more help is still needed.

He stressed that time is of the essence.

Meantime, Director of the Sanmerna Foundation, Robert White has noted that Adrianna’s passport was obtained.

He reiterated that the hospital for her treatment was secured by the foundation and only her airfare needs to be covered, while urging more persons to contribute to the cause.

A GoFundMe, set up to raise funds for Adrianna’a airfare had raised approximately US$3,500 as at this morning (September 8).
