Member of Parliament for South East St. Andrew, Julian Robinson says students who come from poor households will suffer the most if the issue of teacher migration is not addressed.

Speaking at a divisional conference, in South East St. Andrew yesterday, Mr. Robinson called the migration of the nation’s educators, a crisis.

He lamented that if a plan is not implemented to deal with the issue, students from poor households will bear the brunt of the impacts.

Mr. Robinson explained that the situation is further compounded by the fact that many teachers are uncertain about how the government’s public compensation review will impact them.

Noting that there are no easy solutions, Mr. Robinson urged the government to not allow the next few weeks to pass without trying to address the issue.
