Westmoreland police yield success in increased operations with seizure of four firearms in five days
Increased operational activities in Westmoreland are yielding success with the seizure of four firearms in the parish within five days.
One revolver with two .38 cartridges and two 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized during an operation in Russia on Sunday, July 17.
One woman and a man, Carol Boothe and Levi Blake, were charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in relation to that incident.
Meantime, on Monday, one 9mm browning pistol with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds was seized in Ricketts River, Frome, in the parish.
One man, Deno Kongal was charged in connection with the seizure.
And on Thursday, two additional firearms; a Taurus 9mm pistol with an empty magazine and one shotgun were seized on Barracks Road and Seaton crescent in the parish respectively.
No arrest was made in relation to either of these seizures.
The police said that in addition to the firearms seized, Shawn Smith otherwise called ‘Blacks’, who was featured on the constabulary’s most recent “Wanted Wednesdays” campaign turned himself in to the police hours later.
He has since been charged with wounding with intent and illegal possession of firearm.
