Members of the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) have once again criticized the Government’s handling of the country’s crime problem.

This, as murders continue to increase across the country.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, as of June 6, over 630 murders had been recorded.

This resulted in a 5.3% increase in comparison to the corresponding period last year.

Speaking at a Divisional Conference in Brompton St Elizabeth last night (June 12), Region Five Chairman Kern Spencer said the Jamaica Labour Party-led Government does not have a crime plan.

He highlighted the worrying state of crime in St Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, PNP Vice President Ian Hayles chastised members of the Governing party over their suggestion to meet with gangsters to quell the crime problem.

He said for members of the Government to be considering meeting with gangsters, something is terribly wrong.
