94% of JPS customers now have electricity following hurricane Melissa

Ninety-four percent of Jamaica Public Service (JPS) customers now have electricity.

Approximately 6% of customers remain without power, down from 77% at the start of restoration, following the passage of hurricane Melissa last October.

This was disclosed by President and CEO of JPS Hugh Grant.

Speaking in Westmoreland yesterday, Mr. Grant underscored that restorations have been made possible, not only by JPS, but through partnership with key stakeholders.

He noted that fewer than 38,000 customers remain without electricity.

On October 28, the Category 5 system made landfall in Westmoreland, disrupting power across the parish.

However, Mr. Grant stated that Westmoreland now has more than 60% of its power supply restored.
