Minister with responsibility for skills and digital transformation, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon, has indicated that 637 schools are now connected to the internet under the National Broadband Initiative.

The Minister gave the update on the broadband initiative while speaking at the launch of public wi-fi in Portmore, St. Catherine, today.

She also noted that several hundred kilometers of fibre-optic cables have been installed across the country.

The laying of the fibre optic cables forms part of phase one of the national broadband initiative.
