48-hour curfew imposed in Nannyville, St. Andrew for second time in a week, police cite ongoing gang activities as reason

For a second time in seven days, a 48-hour curfew has been imposed in sections of Nannyville, in the St.
Andrew Central Police Division.

The latest curfew began at 8 this morning and will remain in effect until 8:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 06.

The boundaries include Nanny Boulevard, Mountain View Avenue and Statue Road.

During the curfew, all persons within the boundaries are to remain within their premises, unless authorized by the ground commander.

Meanwhile, Head of the St. Andrew Central Police, Senior Superintendent, Marlon Nesbeth, has cited ongoing gang activities as the reason for the renewed curfew.

Last week, a 48-hour curfew was imposed in response to a flare-up which resulted in two men being shot and killed and a police officer wounded.

Nesbeth told IRIE FM NEWS this morning that due to the continued violence, the decision was taken to impose another 48-hour curfew, and to maintain heavy police presence in the area.
