$24B increase in budget approved by Standing Finance Committee
Parliament‘s Standing Finance Committee on Thursday approved the third supplementary estimates, which increases the budget for this fiscal year by $24 billion.
During the meeting, some opposition members expressed concern about the allocation of monies for some infrastructure projects, such as roadways and bridges.
Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke sought to assure that the funds are intended to accelerate the projects, thereby alleviating the suffering of citizens.
He also sought to remind the opposition that the government already made a substantial budgetary allocation for road works in constituencies.
