Regional governing body for football Concacaf is laying the blame on Caribbean Cup Champions Mount Pleasant for their visa issues which left them with a depleted squad for their Concacaf Champions Cup round of 16 clash with MLS team La Galaxy last evening in California.
Concacaf in a statement explained that they were aware of the situation and had been in communication with, and providing support to, mount pleasant fa regarding the US visa application process for several of its players ahead of the club’s round of 16 first-leg match.
The statement adds that in accordance with the competition regulations, each participating club may register a roster of up to 35 players and is responsible for submitting visa applications within the timeframe required by the diplomatic missions of the countries to be visited.
Concacaf revealed that considering the competition regulations, and that the club had ample time to complete the visa application process following the competition’s official draw in December 2025.
There are suggestions that the St Ann Club waited until after the Galaxy San Miguelito game on February 25 to see if they were going to Los Angeles or Panama.
Concacaf is saying it was their responsibility to apply for a visa before that match ended and be ready for any result in prior rounds.
