Authorities and community leaders are calling for a full investigation, after Hurricane Melissa caused severe flooding across several St. James communities, leaving homes and businesses submerged and residents displaced.
The affected areas include Catherine hall, West Green, Irwin and the Lagoon District.
Chairman of the Community Organization for Management and Sustainable Development, Dave Allen, alleged that a major breach has occurred, which could have long-term effects on property values.
He explained that residents may relocate due to fear of future flooding.
Mr. Allen believes the situation was worsened by construction activities in the area.
He is urging the authorities to launch a transparent probe into construction practices.
